QBE donated $10,000 each to the Sydney Swans Foundation and the QBE Foundation as part of its Goals for Good fundraiser on Saturday.

The insurer pledged to donate $1000 for every goal scored in the AFL match between Sydney – which it sponsors – and Gold Coast Suns at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The two teams scored a combined 20 goals. Unexpectedly, the Suns won.

QBE says it has given more than $600,000 to charity partners and good causes.

QBE Foundation Chairman Bettina Pidcock, who is also the company’s Chief Customer Officer, said the Goals for Good initiative “raises funds that will go towards truly worthwhile causes and is a fantastic example of the way we work so proudly with the Swans to achieve this objective”.
