Climate roundtable to discuss insurance and adaptability

Melbourne’s Monash University will hold a roundtable discussion examining the impact of climate change on insurance and the value of adaptation.

A panel of experts will discuss rising premiums and the burden governments and other stakeholders face in addressing unaffordability.

The event will also look at the role underinvestment in adaptation strategies has played in rising disaster costs, subsequently damaging the ability to prepare for future events.

The panel will include University of Georgia’s Public and International Affairs school dean Matthew R. Auer, Finity principal Sharanjit Paddam, China Water Risk head Debra Tan, Townsville Chamber of Commerce CEO Heidi Turner, Value Advisory Partners founding partner John Marinopoulos, and Open Referral Initiative founder Greg Bloom.

The webinar will mark the third in the Monash Business School’s Living with 2 Degrees Plus seminar series, which looks at how the world can prepare for and adjust to higher average global temperatures.

The webinar will be held on Friday from 12pm to 1.30pm.
