Staff at Gallagher in SA filled backpacks full of clothes, toys and other items for children in emergency care as part of the broker’s global commitment to record 90,000 hours of volunteer work during its 90th anniversary.

Twenty-six staff members spent the day at charity Backpacks 4 SA Kids to help it reach its goal of distributing 600 packs before Christmas, taking the annual number to 3000.

“The demand for these backpacks comes from all over the state and they provide an element of security, novelty and relief from what is otherwise an extremely stressful time for these children,” Gallagher says.

Gallagher staff will replace their annual Kris Kringle gift exchange, instead buying items for the charity. And some will donate additional time to the charity before Christmas.
