Car crime conference to address theft trends
Victorian Police Minister Lisa Neville will open the Australian Vehicle Crime Conference in Melbourne in April.
The event includes a two-day conference and an optional training day led by the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI).
Themes will include responding to youth crime, disrupting vehicle laundering and the separated parts markets, and building community capacity and promoting innovation.
Speakers from police forces in Australia and the UK will address the conference, along with representatives from Swinburne University, VicRoads, the Australian Taxation Office, Mission Australia, RACV and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.
Insurance sector speakers include Suncorp EM Claims Rob Bartlett and Insurance Council of Australia policy adviser Keir Bielecke.
The training day led by the IAATI provides an opportunity for vehicle crime investigators, supervisors and insurance claims administrators to examine latest crime methods and responses.
The National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council, Victoria Police and the IAATI are hosting the event at the RACV City Club in Bourke Street from April 4-6. Click here for more information or to register.
