Cambodian staff visit MGA branches
MGA Insurance Brokers has hosted four sales staff from its Cambodian branch following the expansion of its Asian operation.
MD Paul George says Thiem Bunnary, Chhiyann Chhaly, Panha Nun and Chetra Meas helped take the Cambodian office from a start-up to a profitable branch.
“Today the business has more than 25 employees and, in terms of premium, is roughly on a par with some of our larger regional Australian offices,” he said.
“Our Cambodian partners sent these four staff members to Australia partly as a reward for their outstanding work, but also so they can better familiarise themselves with our operations.”
The Phnom Penh office opened in 2013 with five people, including two partners.
“The office became profitable last year, which was ahead of schedule, and is also doing some back-office work for us, which is very helpful,” Mr George said.
The Cambodian group visited MGA offices in Adelaide and the Riverland branch in Loxton, and spent a few days on the Murray River based at Mannum, SA.
Mr Nun has remained in Australia for another fortnight to work with the group’s central processing unit and IT team.
