Steadfast cancels next year’s convention
Steadfast has cancelled its convention scheduled for next March due to ongoing concerns caused by the coronavirus pandemic, after already not going ahead with this year's event.
The group had announced in April that the 2021 convention would be held in Adelaide, after the program, originally scheduled to take place in Perth from March 22 this year, was derailed by the virus outbreak.
Steadfast CEO Robert Kelly says in a note to brokers that the event planned for the Adelaide Convention Centre also will not proceed.
“With the COVID19 outbreak remaining a major health concern across Australia, and mass gathering restrictions in place for the foreseeable future, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Steadfast Convention,” he says.
“This was a tough call to make. It’s an incredibly important event for Steadfast and it’s a highlight of the year for so many brokers in the network.”
Mr Kelly says the health and safety of staff, delegates and sponsors is paramount.
The Steadfast Convention Steering Committee is considering alternative arrangements to showcase keynote speakers and further information will be released once the program of work is finalised.
The event is normally the largest in the Australian insurance calendar and some 2000 attendees had been expected to meet at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre this year.
