icare names new TMF workers’ comp claims service providers
NSW state insurer icare has appointed a new panel of claims service providers for its Treasury Managed Fund workers’ compensation scheme.
The TMF provides workers’ comp cover for about 380,000 government workers and more than 160,000 volunteers.
icare says it conducted a “comprehensive process” over the past eight months to “identify, negotiate and implement a panel of claims service providers for the TMF that have the right capability to support NSW government agencies and their workers who suffer injury or illness at work”.
The State Insurance Regulatory Authority last year found extensive failings within the scheme and recommended several reforms.
icare says throughout this year, TMF workers’ compensation claims management will transition to DXC, Allianz and EML. Its website shows current claims service providers as QBE, Allianz and EML.
icare will also manage a small portfolio of TMF claims through a specialist internal claims team.
It says the new contracts will improve quality of service and mental health support, and transparency of performance.
Agencies should continue to lodge claims with their current claims service providers until the transition is complete.
“We are pleased to be working with these claims service providers and NSW government agencies to help ensure that people with an injury receive the highest-quality care when they need it, helping them return to work and health sooner,” icare’s group executive of workers’ compensation Tony Wessling said.
“Our newly refreshed panel will help icare deliver on that commitment. DXC, Allianz and EML are highly regarded specialists with a depth of experience across claims management, each with their own unique value proposition, which makes them well-suited partners to provide simpler, better care for people with an injury, and improved support for agencies.”
