Zurich supports diversity with gender affirmation leave

Zurich Australia and New Zealand has introduced a Gender Affirmation Policy that provides leave and other support measures as the company aims to build on the strengths of a diverse workplace.

The policy supports transgender and gender diverse team members taking steps to affirm their identity whether socially or physically, offering four weeks paid leave, up to 12 months unpaid leave, a personalised workplace action plan and access to Zurich’s employee assistance provider.

“It is another step in our journey towards a more diverse and inclusive workplace, where those who wish to affirm their gender, in whichever way they choose, are provided with support, dignity and respect,” CEO Justin Delaney said.

Assistance is also available to the person’s manager, colleagues and allies to ensure a supportive environment.

The company worked closely with PrideZ, Zurich’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group during the development of the policy.

“This policy reflects the value we place in appreciating each other’s differences and our commitment to treat each other with care and respect,” PrideZ Executive Sponsor Evelyn Foong said.
