World Travel Protection wins expatriate award

World Travel Protection (WTP) has been crowned International Health, Wellbeing or Security Management Provider of the Year.

The award was announced at this year’s Expatriate Management & Mobility Awards.

WTP, part of Zurich-owned Cover-More, provides emergency assistance including medical evacuation, repatriation and mental health support, and also trains businesses to mitigate risks before employees travel.

The independent panel of industry experts, who gathered in Singapore earlier this month, said the business had “shown real agility”.

CEO Adrian Leach says the win is a true honour.

“WTP is coming out of the pandemic stronger than ever due to its dedication to clients and investment in services, with backing from Zurich and the Cover-More Group, making it a truly innovative travel assistance provider.

“Because of the team’s ability to adapt, improve and implement new capabilities, WTP has been able to provide the best-in-class support for our clients and their travellers,” Mr Leach said.

WTP has improved its intelligence and technology capabilities, with global monitoring supported by artificial intelligence and analysed by security teams. Its 24/7 Brisbane Command Centre, which has a team of expert medical, security, logistical and case management personnel, has supported over 4230 cases and travellers impacted by the pandemic since December.

Millions of travellers use WTP each year for varied assistance across 200 countries.

WTP has command centres in Brisbane, London and Toronto, and supporting centres in Kuala Lumpur, as well as in Argentina through its sister company Universal Assistance.

Its Atlas case management system provides round the clock care to clients, enabling WTP to report on frequency of assistance cases as well as illnesses and injuries that occurred at different locations, and it relaunched its Travel Assist portal and app technology for global expatriates in February.
