Rodd to leave CGU but stay involved

Former Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA) president Chris Rodd will leave his position as CGU Technical Counsel at the end of this month.

Mr Rodd has spent almost 27 years with CU, CGU and IAG, and despite leaving the organisation he will continue to be heavily involved with the industry.

He will remain on the AILA board, as well as the Presidential Council of AIDA (the international insurance law association).

He is also set to take over as Chairman of the US-based Federation of Defence and Corporate Counsel, and continue his involvement with the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

“I have no plans for any form of retirement but hope that I can at least find a half day to improve my golf,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“These are interesting times and the industry is changing dramatically and at an accelerating rate.

“So much more business will be done online and be dictated by price, with aggregator sites playing an increasing role.

“I believe there will be a profound change within five years. Brokers won’t be happy, but they are also pretty adaptable.”

IAG’s Senior Manager Capability and Learning Brooke Lewis told insuranceNEWS.com.au that Mr Rodd had made a significant contribution and was known for his “dedication, commitment and undeniable passion for insurance”.

His role will not be directly replaced, a spokesman for CGU confirmed.
