Suncorp names new NZ tech chief

Craig Lauchlan has been appointed EGM NZ technology at Suncorp New Zealand.

He is currently executive transition director in Australia and played a key role as the insurer’s banking arm was sold to ANZ. He will move home to New Zealand next month.

Suncorp New Zealand CEO Jimmy Higgins says the team is “fortunate to have someone of his calibre joining”.

“Craig brings a significant depth of experience bringing together people and technology to uplift capability and create great outcomes,” he said.

Chris Robb held the tech role for two years until his departure from Suncorp in June, and the insurer recently announced Debbie Mills had agreed to become NZ EGM technology, effective this month.

A Suncorp spokeswoman told insuranceNEWS.com.au Ms Mills later chose to stay at ASB Bank, where she has worked for five years.

Acting EGM NZ technology Mark Atherton will return to his EM infrastructure and operations role when Mr Lauchlan takes over.
