Reinsurance networking group forms in Victoria
Reinsurance professionals in Victoria have been invited to join a new discussion group which will provide education and networking opportunities.
The Victorian Reinsurance Discussion Group will hold its first function after the June renewal season on July 22, when CGU CEO Peter Harmer and Munich Re GM Non-Life Australasia Stefan Golling will give their perspectives on the market after “earthquakes, floods and cyclones”.
Discussion group President John David, Munich Re’s Manager Australian Regional Offices, says the group has been formed in response to the number of catastrophes in Australia this year and significant changes affecting insurers and reinsurers.
“Bushfire litigation, changes in capital markets and important amendments in legislation have all had a major impact on the industry, and it’s important to share the information with the wider market,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
“The group will provide an invaluable forum for members to discuss and debate issues and market developments specific to reinsurance.”
The committee consists of Mr David, Kon Giannopoulos (Aon Benfield), Tony Hally (Southern Cross Underwriting), Ajit Hall (Deloitte) and Raff Pisano (Minter Ellison).
