Record numbers attend Steadfast Convention
The Steadfast Convention opened with a spectacular welcome event last night at Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves.
More than 2000 people will attend the largest general insurance conference in Australia, with organisers reporting that previous records have been broken.
Last night’s event featured German and Japanese-themed areas and accompanying food and drinks, plus an extensive fireworks display over the Brisbane River.
Today broker-only sessions took place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, followed by the convention opening this afternoon.
Keynote speakers include Lloyd’s Chief of Markets Patrick Tiernan, co-founder of online fashion retailer The Iconic Adam Jacobs, and former rugby league star Johnathan Thurston.
There are breakout sessions tomorrow on key issues including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and mental health, and the event concludes with a disco-themed gala dinner.
The chosen charity is Orange Sky Australia, which supports people experiencing homelessness and hardship through access to free laundry, warm showers and “genuine conversation”.
