QBE replaces intermediaries EGM

QBE veteran Jason Clarke has been appointed EGM Intermediary Distribution, four months after predecessor Tony MacRae left the company following a strategic review.

As reported by insuranceNEWS.com.au in April, a QBE spokesman said Mr MacRae had left after eight years “following discussions regarding the next phase of our strategy”.

“In an ever-changing market, it is now time for us to focus on the current and future requirements of our intermediated partners so we can better support them and their businesses,” the spokesman said.

Mr Clarke was previously GM international brokers. He has been with QBE for almost 25 years in a range of roles covering underwriting, sales and senior management.

New Australian and New Zealand Operations CEO Tim Plant says he is “delighted we have been able to promote from within for this critically important role”.

“Jason and the intermediary distribution team will continue to support our customers’ current and future requirements, seeking innovative solutions to respond to the challenging market conditions,” Mr Plant said.

QBE has also appointed Steven Raynor to the new role of EGM Transformation.

He joined the insurer in 2005 in the workers’ compensation business unit. In the past two years he has led the transformation program in Australia and New Zealand and supported the wider global program in North America and Europe.

Mr Clarke and Mr Raynor are based in Sydney.
