One for Wayne: NTI provides $200,000 for MND study
Truck insurer NTI is funding a research grant to study treatments for motor neurone disease (MND).
The $200,000 grant was provided to the MND Research Institute of Australia. The University of Queensland and others are applying for a share of the grant money.
The money came from a national fundraising push earlier in the year which raised $100,000 in a raffle for a restored 1946 Ford truck named Roxanne. NTI matched this with its own $100,000 donation.
The donation is dedicated to the memory of NTI’s former CEO Wayne Patterson, 62, who died last year after a battle with MND. In Australia two people die every day from the disease.
NTI plans to hold another raffle next year with another restored truck as the prize.
