Neil Gray has won the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) WA broker of the year award.

Mr Gray is principal of Mason Gray Insurance and Risk, an authorised representative of Perth-based Westcourt. The runner-up was Geoff Pratt of Centrewest Insurance Brokers.

EBM account manager Erica Filby took out the state’s young broker prize. She won the state award over Richard Kerby of Marsh & McLennan Agency and Michael Verbunt of Bruce Insurance.

The winning pair are now in the running for national awards, with the overall winners to be announced at the NIBA Convention in September.

Mr Gray will compete for the inaugural QBE-sponsored Stephen Ball Memorial Award, which offers a prize worth $20,000.

Ms Filby is a finalist for the Vero-sponsored Warren Tickle Memorial Award, with a prize valued at $10,000.
