NIBA appoints Gary Okely President, Nick Cook VP

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) has appointed JLT Risk Solutions Head of Public Sector Pacific Gary Okely as President, and Steadfast EGM Partner, Broker Services & Agencies Nick Cook as Vice President.

Outgoing President Dianne Phelan remains on the NIBA board as a director. NIBA CEO Phil Kewin congratulated the new appointments and acknowledged Ms Phelan for her “significant contribution”.

Mr Okely said it was “very humbling” to be appointed President.

“I feel privileged to be able to work with Phil and the NIBA Board to continue the great work done by Di and Eric Harris before her," he said.

Brisbane-based Capital Innovation Insurance Group Director Steven Hill took the role of Queensland Divisional Director, replacing Heather Peirano who has stepped down from the NIBA board after six years.

Perth-based Lockton-Zenith Health & Community Services Senior Account Manager Jordyn Gilbert became WA Divisional Director, replacing Ward Dedman who retired from the board a year ago.

Ms Phelan said Mr Okely had “great ideas to help our industry progress” and she was excited by the prospect of supporting him.

“We’ve achieved a lot in the past few years and we need to continue the work.”

PSC Insurance Group CEO Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong David Hosking joined the board in an additional "listed network” position, alongside Steadfast and Austbrokers representatives Mr Cook and Angie Zissis.

Sydney-based Aon National Client Director - National Lynette Walsh was appointed International Director. She replaces Mr Harris, who retired from the board late last year and was thanked for his "significant contribution to the NIBA Board over the past 10 years, including serving as President from 2019 to 2021".
