Milliner returns as ICA President
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) board has announced the return of Mark Milliner as President.
It follows the departure from IAG of former of former personal insurance CEO Andy Cornish, who took up the presidency in January last year.
Mr Cornish has been acting COO at IAG since December, when a restructure eliminated his personal insurance role.
He has now left IAG to pursue new opportunities after six months as acting COO while Mr Milliner served six month’s “gardening leave” after resigning from Suncorp. He joined IAG as the COO in late April.
Mr Milliner represented Suncorp on the ICA board from 2009 to last year, and was president from 2012 to 2014.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan says Mr Milliner’s two decades of industry experience will be “pivotal in helping the industry take on the economic, technological and regulatory challenges of the coming years”.
Mr Milliner says Mr Cornish “championed many key initiatives, including fairer funding for the emergency services, better-informed consumer decision-making through improved… disclosure processes and consistent advocacy towards greater community resilience and stronger natural disaster mitigation measures”.
Heinrich Eder has also left the board following his retirement as MD Munich Re Australasia.
