Former Australian Medical Association president Michael Gannon has been appointed to the board of indemnity insurer MDA National.

Chairman Rod Moore says Dr Gannon’s long association with MDA National and “medico-political acumen” will strengthen the board when issues such as mandatory reporting and implementation of the disability insurance scheme loom.

MDA says Dr Gannon petitioned the Government to alter the medical indemnity insurance review, and has held high-level discussions with Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt.
