Insurance & Care NSW (icare) CEO Vivek Bhatia has been named a finalist in the financial services category of this year’s CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards.

The former Lumley General Insurance CEO took the helm of state workers’ compensation group icare last August.

Award organisers say Mr Bhatia has been nominated for his “consultative, engaging and encouraging style”.

“Vivek always encourages different ways of working, such as his genuine passion for human-centred design,” the award submission says.

icare manages $30 billion in assets and $26 billion in liabilities, and delivers services to clients of WorkCover NSW, the Lifetime Care & Support Authority, the Dust Disease Authority and the NSW Self-Insurance Corporation.

Mr Bhatia is up against three other finalists: State Trustees CEO Craig Dent, La Trobe Financial President and CEO Greg O’Neill and Defence Bank CEO and MD John Linehan. 

The winner will be named at an event in Sydney on November 24.
