QBE CEO Australia and New Zealand Vivek Bhatia has been appointed to the Insurance Council of Australia board, replacing Pat Regan after his promotion to QBE Group CEO.

Allianz MD Richard Feledy replaces Niran Peiris following the latter’s elevation to the Allianz global board of management, and BT Financial Group GM Insurance Sue Houghton has also become an Insurance Council director.

Insurance Council CEO Rob Whelan says the three new directors will provide invaluable insights and guidance as the sector faces several public inquiries.

“It’s rare to have three highly credentialed industry figures join at the same time,” he said.

Mr Whelan thanked Mr Peiris and Mr Regan and notes they “will continue to provide leadership in the industry in their new roles”.
