Graduates settle in at Suncorp after record number of applications
Suncorp has taken on 63 new recruits across its Australian and New Zealand operations under this year’s graduate program.
The insurer says the graduates are now several weeks into their roles at the Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland offices.
It chose them from nearly 10,000 applicants – a record total.
About half the graduates are in technology roles, while 25% are in insurance and 25% in people and culture positions.
Suncorp graduate program lead Kelly Pfeffer says the strong participation reflects the insurer’s continued investment in fostering new talent.
“The success we have achieved this year has taken some time to put into motion, particularly in a market that can change quickly,” she said.
“As a centralised team that designs and delivers every aspect of our intern and graduate programs, we have a unique advantage in being across everything from attraction through to promotion.
“Each phase informs the other and provides a holistic experience for our grads and interns.”
Jessica Ao, who is in the second year of the program, said: “The flexibility in being able to rotate throughout the graduate program every six months was a key component of why I applied. Coming straight from university, it has been great to explore what different opportunities are out there.”
She says Suncorp provides a welcoming environment for the new recruits.
“It can be daunting finding your way around a new workplace, but everyone I have worked with so far has made the experience extremely enjoyable,” Ms Ao said.
Suncorp says recruitment for its 2026 graduate program will begin in August. Find out more about the program here.
