Allianz fills chief commercial position

Allianz Australia says Julie Mitchell will take over the chief GM commercial role from Phuong Ly, who it announced earlier this year would be moving to the UK.

Ms Mitchell, who has spent 25 years in the Allianz personal injury division, including six as chief GM, has strong industry relationships and a strategic mindset, the insurer says.

“Throughout my career, it has been a privilege to work closely with small and large Australian businesses, helping them to protect their most valuable assets,” said Ms Mitchell, who will start the role on April 1.

“I am excited to expand upon this in my new role leading the Allianz Australia commercial team. I look forward to collaborating with insurance brokers and continuing to support Australian businesses.”

GM of government services Mark Pittman will serve as acting chief GM for personal injury during the search for a permanent replacement.

Allianz has also announced that Anna Stavropoulos – formerly GM of people advisory, talent and learning – has been appointed chief people and culture officer.

Ms Stavropoulos replaces Vicky Drakousis, who will become the global chief people and culture officer for Munich-based Allianz business AZ Tech.

“Julie and Anna bring a wealth of experience and leadership to their new roles, and we are confident they will continue to propel Allianz Australia forward,” MD Richard Feledy said.
