Former Axis Specialty Australia VP property, energy and mining lines Alex Hind has joined HDI-Gerling Australia as Underwriting Manager Property, Power and Energy Australasia.

He replaces Daniel Cole, who is now head of mining, energy and power at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance.

Mr Hind is a qualified chemical engineer but has worked in the insurance industry for 12 years.

He began his insurance career as a facultative reinsurance broker with Aon Benfield, later moving to Chartis Australia Insurance as a senior property underwriter. He joined Axis in 2010.

HDI-Gerling Australia MD Stefan Feldmann has welcomed Mr Hind’s appointment “in this highly specialised segment of the insurance market”.
