The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has announced another round of consultation forums for flood-affected communities across northern Victoria.  

The forum will be the fifth such event since last October’s floods inundated towns across northern Victoria, such as Shepparton, Echuca, Seymour and Rochester. NSW and Tasmania communities were also impacted by floods at this time.   

The ICA says more than 11,000 claims have been lodged in Victoria alone, amounting to $473 million, with the overall insured cost across the three states at $736 million.  

ICA CEO Andrew Hall says nearly 80% of all claims related to the event have been closed and encourages policyholders experiencing issues with their claim to attend the forum.  

“We’ve seen first-hand the destruction and devastation of these floods and know that communities and businesses are still on the road to recovery,” Mr Hall said.  

“These community consultations are an invaluable way to provide customers with on-the-ground and face-to-face opportunities to engage with their insurer on the issues that matter.”  

The events will be held at the following locations and dates:

• Tuesday, September 19, from 10am - 6pm: Maidstone Community Centre, 21 Yardley Street, Maidstone.  
• Wednesday, September 20, from 12pm – 6pm: Sir Ian McLennan Centre, Joyce Reid Drive, Mooroopna.  
• Thursday, September 21, from 10am – 6pm: Moama RSL, 56 Merool Road, Moama.  
• Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, from 10am – 6pm: Rochester Shire Hall, 43 Mackay Street, Rochester.
