ICA announces consultation event for SA flood victims

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) will host a second consultation event in Adelaide for policyholders affected by last year’s River Murray flood.

The flood event, which occurred in late December, hit nearly 4000 properties, with nearly $426 million in insured losses. The ICA declared the flood a significant event, with more than 2500 claims filed.

ICA says about 1500 of the claims relate to home and property losses, 760 home contents claims and 45 motor vehicle claims.

CEO Andrew Hall says the event provides a valuable opportunity for customers to speak to insurers.

“It has been almost one year since these floods and insurers are continuing to work with their customers to complete outstanding claims,” Mr Hall said.

“If a policyholder is needing assistance ... I encourage them to attend the consultation as [it offers] real value to impacted policyholders and is a safe and accessible forum to raise concerns directly with an insurer.”

The event will be held at the Meeting Hall at Adelaide Town Hall - 128 King William Street, Adelaide SA 5000, from 12pm to 8pm on October 31.

Attendees are advised to book in advance. Click here for booking information.
