Brokers vote Lumley General Insurer of the Year
Lumley General Insurance has been named General Insurer of the Year. The award, announced at the opening ceremony of the NIBA Convention at Conrad Jupiters on the Gold Coast, ended Chubb’s chances of making it three in a row. The Lumley contingent at the convention certainly weren’t expecting to win the award.
The award, which is voted on by more than 2000 brokers using criteria based around service, products and claims, was accepted by National Marketing Manager Phil Hetherington. Ironically, Lumley MD David Matcham – who had put winning the award within three years as a major company goal – was overseas.
Chubb was a finalist along with CGU. British-owned Lumley has been a strong performer over the past year and achieved its 12th consecutive underwriting profit – $ 15.1 million – last financial year. Its premium income also climbed 40% to more than $300 million.
