QBE names new Australia governance head, NZ CEO

QBE has appointed New Zealand and Pacific CEO and MD Declan Moore as its new Australia Pacific chief governance and executive operations officer.

He will oversee first-line risk, customer remediation, marketing and customer insights, legal and executive operations, the insurer announced on LinkedIn.

His appointment comes as Tracey Harris, who took the chief governance role in 2022, departs the business. She joined the insurer from Sedgwick, where she was COO for Australia.

Jonathan Groves, who has been chief risk officer since December 2018, has taken Mr Moore’s previous role, based in Auckland, according to his LinkedIn.

Mr Moore and Mr Groves are part of the executive leadership team and both started on August 5.

According to QBE’s website, Mr Moore was appointed chief customer officer for New Zealand and Pacific in August 2019. He has 25 years’ insurance experience, including six years at QBE Australia as head of actuarial pricing and operations manager for NSW/ACT, where he managed the underwriting, finance and support functions.

Mr Groves has more than 25 years’ experience in the international insurance and reinsurance markets, having worked in the UK and Bermuda. He joined QBE in 2013 as chief risk officer for its Equator Re business, and was appointed group head of risk in April 2017.
