Suncorp NZ moves admin roles to Asia

Suncorp’s New Zealand arm is to transfer an unspecified number of administrative jobs to strategic partners in Asia.

The move will affect staff in its Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch operations.

The insurer says the “strategic partnering program” will improve customer service, and opens up new job opportunities for affected staff.

“We are unable to provide details on the number of roles being disestablished or the number of new roles being created as the consultation process is now under way,” Suncorp New Zealand EGM People Experience Catherine Dixon said.

“The strategic partnering program is not about reducing headcount. By moving some roles offshore, and creating new roles here in New Zealand, Suncorp New Zealand will increase the capability of its business, and improve the service we provide our customers.”

Last month Suncorp reported its New Zealand business suffered a 57.5% drop in net profit to $NZ37 million ($33.94 million) for the six months to December 31, as new Canterbury claims and the Kaikoura earthquake took a toll.
