Munich Re promotes Scott Hawkins to Australasia MD role
Scott Hawkins will step into the role of MD Australasia at Munich Re next month, overseeing the Australian and New Zealand businesses.
Sydney-based Mr Hawkins has been Head of Non-Life for the past six years and, prior to joining Munich Re 16 years ago, spent two years at QBE as reinsurance underwriter and three years at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority as risk specialist.
Mr Hawkins will report to Tobias Farny, CEO Asia Pacific – Greater China and Australia/New Zealand, who said Mr Hawkins’ deep technical expertise and strong client focus would position him well to lead the local business into its next stage.
“Scott has a proven track record in strategically managing significant reinsurance transactions and in developing innovative risk solutions,” he said.
The local MD role became available as Ralph Ronnenberg returns to the German head office after five years in Australia to become head of Reinsurance Controlling for the Munich Re Group.
Dr Farny thanked Mr Ronnenberg “for his strong contribution to successfully developing the business over the past five years”.
