Japanese insurer steps up Australian presence
Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance will invest $2.2 million in a new operations centre in regional Victoria, to support its growing business in Australia.
The centre will be built in Warragul or Drouin and become the Japanese insurer’s second site after Melbourne.
Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance’s business in Australia is expected to grow by more than 20% in the next three years.
“Investment in the new regional site will create 87 new highly skilled jobs in the professional services sector,” the Victorian Government says.
The Japanese insurer underwrites retail insurance, principally for Toyota and Lexus.
Its Australian operations’ gross earned premium totalled $123.5 million last calendar year, according to statistics compiled by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
