Honan Insurance Group has appointed high-profile sports administrator Richard Colless as Chairman.

Mr Colless has been on Honan’s advisory board for the past two years and has more than 30 years’ experience as a chairman and director with a range of large public and private companies in Australia and Asia.

“Our board is a good representation of the facets of our industry,” the group’s CEO Damien Honan said. “The board understands the challenges faced by the insurance and financial services industry and each member has demonstrated experience and their own expertise that they bring to the table.”

The company says Mr Colless had developed a broad range of contacts through his role as a sports administrator.

He sits on the SCG Trust and is a former chairman of the Sydney Swans AFL club. He has previously chaired ING Management and is a former member of the JP Morgan Australian advisory board.
