Ride Protect joins forces with Marsh

Rideshare car insurance solution Ride Protect has entered a long-term collaboration with Marsh that gives both brands a larger presence within Australia’s gig economy.

Combining its dynamic approach to insurance with Marsh's extensive national client base and industry expertise marks a major milestone for the startup, which entered the market in 2021.

Executives at both companies welcomed the alliance, saying it brings together two industry specialists committed to breaking new ground within the rideshare and gig economy insurance market.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Ride Protect and introduce its game-changing car insurance product to our clients,” Marsh National Leader for the Sharing Economy Dimitri Hursalas said, adding that Ride Protect's innovative approach to pricing and coverage “perfectly aligns with Marsh’s commitment to delivering the best possible options for our customers”.

“With many gig economy drivers often taking on this type of part-time work in addition to their full-time jobs to help combat the impact of rising costs of living, we understand how critical it is to keep their costs low. We are proud to play a part in supporting gig workers by offering high-quality yet cost-effective solutions with Ride Protect."

Ride Protect’s all-in-one comprehensive policy was the first to solve the cost and inconvenience of part-time rideshare or food delivery drivers having to buy two separate policy types for their comprehensive vehicle insurance.

Ride Protect, in partnership with fleet underwriter Mercurien, is underwritten by Assetinsure and supported by 365 Roadside Assistance and Hello Claims. The platform allows rideshare drivers to apply online, enter their registration number, get a quote and bind within two minutes.

The collaboration with Marsh means both brands can offer their gig economy customers market-leading comprehensive car insurance packages with competitive pricing, says Ride Protect CEO & Founder Jeremy Bennett.

The collaboration comes as gig economy workers face rising interest rates and cost of living, and as gig economy workers prioritise low-cost outlay, the joint work of Marsh and Ride Protect offers them an economical insurance solution without compromising on quality, the startup says.

"The long-term success and sustainability of any insurance offering is aligning with companies that share the same ethos and vision. By joining forces with Marsh, we provide an avenue for gig economy workers to save money without compromising on the coverage they need,” Mr Bennett told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

“We are proud to offer this opportunity for individuals to protect their assets and build a stronger financial future."

The insurtech sets the benchmark within rideshare, food delivery and last mile logistics, Mr Bennett says, and working with Marsh opens avenues to bring the game-changing product to a wider audience, while collaboration nationally with 365 Roadside Assistance adds peace of mind to every policy.

Ride Protect, which also provides fleet-style quotes to both the general insurance market and owner-operator fleets, says the ridesharing initiative is the first in a series of projects planned with Marsh, tailored specifically for the evolving needs of the gig economy.
