NIBA hails Okely impact as board names new president

The National Insurance Brokers Association’s new president says he looks forward to “building upon the great work” of his predecessor and advocating for members across Australia...

Steadfast EGM of Australasian networks, broker and insurer services Nick Cook was appointed to the role at the association’s annual general meeting earlier this week.

Austbrokers ABS MD Rebecca Wilson was made VP.

Mr Cook served as the association’s VP since 2023 and steps up to replace Gary Okely, who will remain on the board as a representative for Marsh.

Mr Okely says he is keen to work with Mr Cook and the board “to ensure NIBA continues to deliver as the ‘one voiceʼ of the broking profession”.

Association CEO Richard Klipin said: “On behalf of our members, I would like to thank Gary for his contribution to NIBA as the president and the significant impact he has made during his tenure.

“We are delighted that Gary will continue on the board as the immediate past president, providing his invaluable insights, guidance and leadership.”

The board has also welcomed two new members – Greg Mullins, representing Envest, and Willis Temby Insurance Brokers executive director Brett Piggott, who will be NIBA’s WA representative.
