New PIC chief keen to build on family legacy

New Zealand’s PIC Insurance Brokers says Kristen Garner has been appointed CEO.

Ms Garner has worked at the independent family-owned business for the past 18 years in a variety of roles, including chief broking operations officer and head of product and process.

PIC was founded in Panmure, Auckland, in 1989 by Ms Garner’s father Mike Garner, who died in March 2022.

“I’m proud to accept this opportunity and honoured to continue Dad’s legacy at PIC,” Ms Garner said today. “PIC continues to invest with long-term initiatives, most notably with the upgrade of our core operating system.”

PIC Insurance Brokers has been led by interim CEO Bruce Morrison for the past 10 months. Ms Garner will start her new role on January 6 and Mr Morrison will return to his previous role as chairman.

“I’d like to congratulate Kristen on her appointment and look forward to seeing the business go from strength to strength under her leadership,” Mr Morrison said.
