Storm-hit state names disaster recovery co-ordinators

Queensland has appointed recovery co-ordinators to help communities clean up and rebuild after Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Ex-military leader and tourism industry figure Justin O’Connor has been named state recovery co-ordinator, with former Brisbane councillor Peter Matic his deputy. They will work alongside the Queensland Reconstruction Authority and will identify affected communities’ needs and consult with them on the development of recovery programs and plans.

“The co-ordinators have hit the ground running … The job is already under way to deliver the recovery needed,” state Premier David Crisafulli said.

“These roles will be critical to ensure we send the message that Queensland is open for business ahead of the Easter holidays.”
