Queensland offers resilient rebuild grants
The Queensland government has introduced resilience-focused rebuilding grants for flood-hit homeowners in the state’s north.
Almost 300 people have registered their interest in Stronger Home Grants, a program jointly funded by the state and the Commonwealth’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to improve property resilience, such as by raising electrical switchboards.
The government says the program follows consultation with affected communities, builders and insurance industry representatives after floods earlier this year.
“When we rebuild stronger, we save lives, we protect livelihoods, and we reduce the cost of recovery,” Premier David Crisafulli said.
