NSW floods inquiry extends submissions deadline
The deadline for submissions to the NSW inquiry into the state’s flooding has been extended by five weeks to ensure everyone affected has the opportunity to contribute.
Submissions are now due by June 24. Previously the inquiry had set a May 20 deadline, while noting it would consider late submissions made by people directly impacted.
The inquiry is being led by the state’s former chief scientist and engineer Mary O’Kane and former NSW police commissioner Michael Fuller.
The terms of reference say they should report on causation, land use planning and management and related matters by June 30 and on all other matters by September.
Issues to be considered include causes of, and factors contributing to, the frequency, intensity, timing and location of floods in the catastrophic event this year, including consideration of weather, climate change and human activity.
