NSW extends strata remediation project
The NSW Government has reminded eligible apartment building owners to register for “Project Remediate” as it extends openings.
NSW Fair Trading Minister Vincent Dominello called on corporate owners of residential apartment buildings to sign up for the program.
“My message to those yet to register is to closely consider the benefits of joining the program for the safety and benefit of their residents,” Mr Dominello said.
The program was touted as a three-year project to remove combustible high-risk cladding and install adequate safety measures in at least 225 residential apartments. Mr Dominello says over 200 owners have signed onto the project.
NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler says the project is on track “to improve the safety and quality of high-risk residential apartment buildings” for thousands of people living in strata communities.
The program has arranged public liability, professional indemnity, and contract works insurance provided by Lloyd’s, Pacific Indemnity Underwriting Solutions and QBE, respectively, for contractors and consultants.
