Victoria adds assessing to list of permitted onsite work activity
Assessors will be allowed onsite for safety or emergency reasons during the ongoing stage four lockdown in Melbourne, according to an update from the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).
ICA says the Victorian Government has updated its Financial and Insurance Services section of permitted workplace activity to include assessors if it has to do with safety or emergency cases.
The council understands the measure is “intended as a temporary solution to provide immediate clarity in respect to assessors”.
The Government is continuing to review the industry’s proposed inclusion of a “critical insurance services” category for permitted work.
ICA has been pressing Victoria to include in its business guidance a definition of critical insurance services that can still be provided since the stage four lockdown was introduced in Melbourne more than three weeks ago.
