NZ storm claims trickle in
New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission (EQC) is urging homeowners affected by recent storms to lodge their claims soon.
The commission has so far received 60 claims.
“Some customers may not have all the information as to the damage to their property, but they should still lodge a claim with the EQC and we will work with them through the process,” spokesman Renee Walker said.
The EQC covers storm or flood damage to land around a home, and private insurers cover storm or flood damage to the home and contents.
Vero in New Zealand said it had received nearly 200 claims in relation to the recent Fehi storm.
"At this stage we are not anticipating that many more will come in,” a spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au. "There has been some damage throughout the country but the most impacted areas were parts of the West Coast and Nelson, and we have added some additional resources in those areas to ensure our customers are well looked after."
