NSW hailstorm losses climb further
Losses from the Sydney hailstorm earlier this month have risen to $58 million, according to the Insurance Council of Australia.
Losses from bushfires that swept across large parts of NSW remain at $28.5 million, putting the combined bill at $86.5 million.
IAG says it has received more than 13,000 claims, predominantly motor, from the February 18 storm.
It has mobilised drones to capture aerial imagery of roof damage, to help fast-track claims assessment.
IAG, Suncorp and Allianz have set up hail claim assessment centres in the area.
Allianz says claims “continue to be lodged in large numbers” – as many as 80 an hour.
