Lloyd’s moves closer to UAC
Lloyd’s General Representative in Australia Adrian Humphreys will join the board of the Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) as a non-voting associate director.
UAC Chairman Damien Coates says the move “recognises the important symbiotic relationship between UAC and Lloyd’s”.
Lloyd’s handles about $2.5 billion in premiums in Australia each year. While it is a full member of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), Lloyd’s has never been represented on the ICA board.
Mr Coates says the market has been a long-term supporter of UAC and more than 60% of UAC members have an association with Lloyd’s.
“This move benefits all UAC members, not just those who have a relationship with Lloyd’s,” he said.
Mr Humphreys says Lloyd’s recognises the “significant progress” UAC is making in providing technical and professional support to its membership base.
The association with UAC is “part of Lloyd’s strategic plan to promote and grow the underwriting agency/coverholder model”.
“We look forward to providing greater support for UAC in the future,” he said.
