Insurers meet more Queensland storm victims
Insurers will hold a third round of community consultations to help customers affected by severe storms in south-east Queensland from December 23 to January 3.
Insured losses have passed $1.2 billion from more than 97,000 claims lodged.
Insurers will visit Jimboomba tomorrow, Upper Coomera on Wednesday and Tamborine Mountain on Thursday. Earlier consultation rounds were held in January and March.
Insurance Council of Australia CEO Andrew Hall says insurers remain committed to supporting affected customers.
“We’re pleased to report that nearly half of all claims have already been finalised and insurers are working diligently to get the remaining families, businesses and communities back on their feet,” he said.
Insurers have been present at recovery centres, which is standard procedure following a catastrophe declaration, to help policyholders discuss claims.
Last week, ICA hosted forums in Cairns, Port Douglas and Mossman to help communities affected by Cyclone Jasper.
