Pacific Life Re has promoted Tyson Johnston to the role of General Manager, Australia.

The former head of the client solutions team will join the divisional senior leadership team and will represent the Australian branch on the insurer’s board. He will report to MD Asia and Australia Andrew Gill.

Mr Johnston has followed Mr Gill’s footsteps in the business over the past 18 months. Mr Gill was acting head of the client solutions team, before Mr Johnston – who was then group insurance director – was promoted to head the team in July 2018.

Mr Gill was MD of Pacific Life’s Australian operations at the time. He was then promoted in March this year to his current role overseeing Asia and Australia.

Mr Johnston joined Pacific Life Re in 2017. He was instrumental in designing and executing the business strategy for the company’s Australian branch, and will bring a balanced skillset to the role, the company says.
