Aon returns to New York

Global broker Aon has opened new offices in lower Manhattan in New York, less than two years after suffering its darkest hour in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre.

Aon lost 176 employees – “some world-class intellectual capital”, said Chairman/CEO Patrick Ryan – in the disaster, and moved uptown while a new building was found. Mr Ryan and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani officiated at the opening.
