Dr Leigh asks Mr Swanson about suicide exclusions in Clearview policies.

Mr Swanson says suicide is excluded for the first 13 months of a policy. He says the insurer errs on the side of the customer if the cause of death is unclear.

He says he is unsure how many claims have been declined in the last year due to the suicide exclusion, but says during the COVID-19 crisis some customers have called to ask whether suicide is covered.

"This is particularly distressing," he says.
