Allianz more travel and landlord

Committee Chairman Tim Wilson is pursuing some complex hypothetical travel insurance questions that are leading nowhere.

He's trying to ask whether a flight that was cancelled - but for reasons other than the pandemic - would be covered by insurance.

Mr Feledy is a bit confused by the question, and understandably, because the scenario Mr Wilson is trying to outline is very unlikely to occur at this point in time.

Deputy Chairman Andrew Leigh moves on to motor insurance and potential reductions in premium as a result of less traffic on the roads.

Mr Feledy says there are still weather related losses like hailstorms to contend with, but any savings will be reflected in future pricing.

"It seems a bit heads I win, tails you lose," Dr Leigh responds.

"If this massive drop in vehicle miles doesn't get passed to consumers that seem pretty egregious."

Mr Feledy says Allianz is supporting its customers "sensibly and sustainably".

Dr Leigh returns to the issue of landlord insurance and whether insurers will go after tenants for outstanding rent. Mr Feledy says Allianz has not done that, and would not do so if the non-payment was a result of hardship.
