AFCA opening
Next up is AFCA, with CEO and Chief Ombudsman David Locke.
There are more than 37,000 members of AFCA, he says, including all general and life insurers.
There have been 104,000 complaints in the first 17 months of operation, he says, with $297 million of compensation approved.
Just under 24,000 complaints have related to general insurance (23%), and 2500 to life insurance (2%).
Mr Locke says "we have certainly seen improved cooperation" from the insurance industry since Hayne, with an increased level of focus on customers.
"There have only been three cases where we have struggled to get cooperation from insurers," he says.
