Youi announces new risk and compliance role
Leading governance professional Russell Redsell has been appointed to a newly created role at Youi as Chief of Corporate Affairs and Governance.
The role combines responsibility for corporate and regulatory affairs, legal and governance, including first-line risk and compliance.
Mr Redsell, who has a proven track record of building in-house teams, joined the Youi executive team in late 2018.
He has held key roles including General Counsel, EGM Legal & Compliance, and Acting Chief Risk Officer.
Before joining Youi, Mr Redsell worked at Bank of Queensland and in private legal practices in Australia and the UK.
He was named winner of the Top 100 Governance Professionals in Australia in 2021 and played a key role in transforming Youi’s in-house legal function. The team has won awards including the prestigious In-house Insurance Team of the Year Award at the Australasian Law Awards in 2022.
Youi CEO Nathaniel Simpson says he is thrilled to see Mr Redsell taking on the new role.
“As Youi continues to grow, this new function under Russell’s leadership is poised to make significant contributions to our business, enabling our company to navigate evolving industry challenges, uphold best practices, and maintain a strong foundation for sustainable growth at a time that climate change is impacting Australia’s insurance market,” he said.
Mr Redsell says he looks forward to applying his experience in the new role.
“Stepping away from having a reference to 'legal' in my title for the first time, I embark on an exciting new journey. I look forward to leveraging my experience to establish and grow Youi's newest function, which will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, fostering transparency and accountability with our partners and suppliers, mitigating risks, and safeguarding Youi's brilliant reputation.”
